Using Paper Lanterns In Your Baby's Nursery Decor

Planning your baby's nursery decor is a fun, exciting thing to do in preparation for his or her arrival.

Your baby room decor doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate to be beautiful - having babies is expensive, decorating your nursery needn't be. Here are our favourite ideas and inspirational photos for making a gorgeous place that will make your newest family member feel right at home.

We loved this monochrome and brights nursery that we found on Polka Dots & Ric Rac. The gorgeous turquoise and mustard-yellow colour palette looks great with accents of red and the black-and-white contrasting soft furnishings. A stunning mobile has been made from paper chains, tissue paper pom-poms and paper lanterns. How very clever and cute!

This is Hallie Joy's nursery - and she's a lucky baby, because it's eye-poppingly gorgeous. A white crib and neutral greys makes the perfect backdrop for some paper lantern decor, combined with mirror discs, crafty stars and bright framed typographic prints.

We love this vintage-inspired room for a baby girl. Great use has been made of eyelet lanterns, which are strung from the ceiling above the crib. These lanterns fit in beautifully with the rest of the pink-tinged girly decor. We adore the shadow boxes of framed dolly dresses!

How cool is this Dr Seuss-inspired nursery? A string of different coloured 20cm paper lanterns hung wall-to-wall at ceiling height is a great way to bring a rainbow inside!
